Detail Description

Ketotifen Tablet Specification

Description

Ketotifen, the active ingredient in Ketotifen tablets, primarily acts as a selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist, effectively blocking the effects of histamine in various tissues. Its mechanism of action involves binding to H1-receptors, thereby preventing histamine-induced responses. This action stabilizes mast cells, reducing the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins. By inhibiting mast cell activation, Ketotifen suppresses allergic reactions and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, Ketotifen has some affinity for other histamine receptors (H2 and H3), potentially contributing to its therapeutic effects.
