Drug Class:

  • Amlodipine: Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB)

Used For:

  • Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Reducing risk of stroke and heart attack in patients with cardiovascular risk factors

  • When monotherapy is not effective


How It Works:

  • Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels by blocking calcium channels, lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac workload.

  • Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing blood vessel constriction and reducing fluid retention.


Dosage:

  • Usual Adult Dose: One tablet once daily

  • Adjustments: Dose may be adjusted based on patient’s response

  • Take with or without food, preferably at the same time daily

  • Use as directed by a healthcare provider


Side Effects:

Common:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

  • Swelling of ankles or feet

  • Fatigue

Serious (rare):

  • Hypotension (low blood pressure)

  • Kidney impairment
