How It Works
Atomoxetine increases the levels of noradrenaline in the brain, a naturally occurring chemical that enhances attention while reducing impulsiveness and hyperactivity. Unlike stimulant medications, atomoxetine is non-addictive and acts as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.

Dosage- Atomoxetine (as prescribed by your doctor).
Side Effects
Common:- Feeling or having a very fast heartbeat.
- Abnormal heart rhythms.
- Mood swings or mood changes.
- Thinking about or attempting suicide.
- Feeling aggressive, unfriendly, or angry (hostility).
- Serious allergic reactions, including:
- Swelling of the face and throat.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Hives (small, raised, itchy skin patches).
- Psychotic symptoms:
- Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there).
- False beliefs or suspicion of others.
- Seizures.
Drug Interactions
Avoid using with:
- Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
- Antidepressants like imipramine, venlafaxine, mirtazapine, fluoxetine, and paroxetine.
- Quinidine and terbinafine.
- Salbutamol.
- Antibiotics like erythromycin and moxifloxacin.
Indications
- Atomoxetine is used to treat ADHD by improving focus, reducing impulsivity, and controlling hyperactivity.
When Not to Use
Do not take this medicine if:
- You are allergic to atomoxetine or any of its ingredients.
- You have used an MAOI (e.g., phenelzine) within the past two weeks. Combining these drugs can lead to life-threatening side effects.

- You have thoughts about harming or killing yourself.
- You have a history of heart problems (e.g., defects or increased heart rate). Atomoxetine can increase heart rate, and sudden death has been reported in patients with underlying heart defects.

Drowsiness and Dizziness:
This medicine may make you feel tired, sleepy, or dizzy. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you. -
Seizures:
If you have a history of epilepsy or seizures, atomoxetine might increase seizure frequency. Consult your doctor before use. -
Mood Changes:
Talk to your doctor if you experience mood swings or feel extremely unhappy.
